Grapes and wines

COL FONDO and QVÈ wines,

our revival and enhancement projects.

The vineyards of Ca’ Del Faggio host a number of plants over a hundred years old that were part of the original selection of local varieties.

By reviving and preserving them we wish to identify the genes on our estate through the multiplication every year of healthy vines that will replace dead or unhealthy ones.

The second stage of the project will create an extensive vineyard that will revive the elements of our family’s winegrowing tradition.

After numerous observations and direct experience, and taking into consideration the opinions of renowned experts, we can now say that wine produced from old vines is of a higher quality than that from younger vines.

This is so because old vines are better balanced in growth and less vigorous, which means they produce grapes that accumulate more elaborate, noble compounds during maturation.

For vines, preserving biodiversity is especially important given the deep cultural ties between wine and the territory, and thousands of years of history and tradition.

Both our projects, COL FONDO and QVÈ, aim at preserving biodiversity by protecting the quality and typical features of our territory.
